Earliest date when Candidates may file Nomination. 
Nominations may be filed by Candidates from January 4th through to Nomination Day (September 10th).  (Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)  On Nomination Day nominations may be filed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

REVISION TO OWN ELECTORIAL  INFORMATION
Eligible voters who wish to make additions, corrections, or deletions to their
Mon, Oct 25  own electoral information as shown on the Preliminary List of Electors may do so in the Clerk’s Department during this period.
In addition, changes may also be made to elector’s own electoral information at the Voting Place.

September 10, 2010
(9:00 am to 2:00 pm)
nominations may be filed with the Clerk by Candidates or their agent between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (September 16, 2010 if nomination period extended – see Candidate’s Guide)

Faxed or e-mailed documents WILL NOT be accepted.

Electors can obtain Appointment of Voting Proxy Certificates from the Clerk’s Department any time that the offices are open.

Appointment of Voting Proxy Certificates do not remain in force after Voting Day (Mon, October 25th, 2010).

September 20, 2010

On or before September 20th,2010 the Clerk shall prepare an interim list of the changes to the Voters’ List that have been approved on or before Nomination Day (September 10th) for each of the Candidates.

The final list of Voting Places will be mailed to each Candidate by approximately September 20th, 2010.

September 30, 2010

Election Signs
The Town’s election sign by-law prohibits the posting of election signs prior to Thursday, September 30th, 2010.  Candidates are however permitted to erect election signs on their campaign offices once the candidate has filed his or her Nomination Papers and paid the required filing fee.

Voter Notification Cards
Voter Notification Cards are expected to be mailed out to all eligible electors by the first week of October.

October 16, 2010

Advance Vote
Wards 1, 2 and 3 at Ballantrae Fire Hall (15400 Hwy 48) (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.);

Wards 4, 5 and 6 at Council Chambers of Town Offices (37 Sandiford Drive, 4th Floor) (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

October 19,2010

Advance Vote - for All Wards at Lebovic Leisure Centre (30 Burkholder Street) Lobby at main entrance (4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.)

October 20, 2010

Advance Vote - for All Wards at Council Chambers of Town Offices (37 Sandiford Drive, 4th Floor) (4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.)

MONDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2010
(10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.)

VOTING DAY
Polls are open between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. (except for Roving Voting Places).  Employers shall allow employees three consecutive hours to vote.         

As soon as possible after October 25, 2010

Official Results
The Clerk will post the official results of the Election at the Town Offices as soon as possible after October 25th, 2010.

On or before October 28, 2010

 All election signs must be removed by midnight on Thursday, October 28th, 2010 or Town staff will remove the signs at a cost of $10.00 per sign.

December 7, 2010

Inaugural
The Inaugural first meeting of the Council of 2010-2014 will take place on December 7th, 2010.  The elected members of the Council must take the oath of office prior to taking his or her seat.

December 31, 2010

End of 2010 Municipal Election Campaign Period
The end of the 2010 Municipal Election campaign period is Friday, December 31, 2010.  Candidates may not raise funds or incur expenditures beyond this date unless they have a deficit and have notified the Clerk of the extension to their campaign period. 

March 25, 2011

Last Day for Filing Financial Disclosure
The last day for all nominated Candidates to file their financial statements is 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25th, 2011
