What is Nineteen on the Park? Nineteen on the Park! is the concept name for the development and restoration of the historic landmark building, 19 Civic Avenue, in Whitchurch-Stouffville’s downtown core. 19 Civic Avenue is one of the oldest and most culturally significant buildings in the community of Stouffville’s downtown core. The building and adjoining clock tower have remained pivotal in the community development and growth, linking the historic main street to the parkland and community facilities to the south. Introducing two NEW performing arts Summer Camps at Nineteen on the Park! 1. Summer Theatre Camp / Ages: 10-15 (no experience necessary) The Nineteen on the Park Summer Theatre Camp is an exciting opportunity for young performers to explore various styles of theatre under professional instructors from MOTUS O Dance Theatre. Different aspects of the theatre will be emphasized: mime, physical theatre, improvisation, voice and stage craft. This is an opportunity for young people interested in building confidence or developing their dramatic skills. Each session ends with a public performance of an original production created and developed by the young people and their instructors. The final production will be presented at Nineteen on the Park at 6:30pm on the second last day of camp. Two 10-day sessions are available in July - $300 / session. 2. Summer School of Rock / Ages: 11-17 (at least one-year of experience) Under the direction of facilitators and coaches from We Rock School of Music, this week will provide aspiring musicians with an opportunity to utilize and further refine their musical skills by being grouped with other players to form a rock band. This week of group and individual instruction will allow students (both novice and advanced) to sharpen their skills, whether they play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, or vocals. This is a chance for young musicians to express their individuality while exposing them to performance fundamentals that will develop their confidence and stage presence.
