Park Drive Extension, Main Street to Hoover Park Drive
Project Overview
The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is undertaking the reconstruction and extension of Park Drive from Main Street south to Hoover Park Drive. The design includes the construction of a new road around Memorial Park and a bridge over Stouffville Creek consistent with the Class Environmental Assessment completed in 2003 and the Memorial Park Master Plan completed in 2007.

Phase 1: Completed in 2008, the section from Hoover Park Drive north approximately 300m to the entrance to the Lebovic Leisure Centre.
Phase 2: Planned for completion in 2010, the section from the Lebovic Leisure Centre north to Main Street, approximately 600m, including a new bridge structure to cross Stouffville Creek.
Other notable elements of the project include:
- Construction of a new sidewalk and multi-use path to connect the existing trail system at Hoover Park Drive to Memorial Park;
- Relocation of the Toboggan Hill in the Thicketwood park area;
- Construction of a visual and noise attenuation berm along the east side of the new road;
- Reduced size of the existing skate park, while keeping the major components in place;
- Reconstruction and expansion of the Park Drive municipal parking lot to accommodate 108 parking spots to offset removal of on-street parking in the area;
- Construction of new accessibility parking stalls adjacent to Latcham Hall;
