  Employment & Industry 2005 Back

The following employment and industry information are extracts from the findings of the 2005 York Region Employment Survey. The survey selects areas of analysis from designated employment areas and Regional centres, farm and home based businesses are not included in the data. A section of the report is dedicated to findings in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

The study aims to monitor the location, type, and characteristics of businesses in the York Region, in support of Regional Official Plan policies aimed at creating “a competitive and adaptable economic environment that encourages investment and a diversity of employment opportunities.”

The Study provides insight into business and employment opportunities across the York Region and monitors global economic trends and their impacts on the regional economy. The survey forms an integral component of the Economic Development Strategy providing business data that supports business directory products, cluster analysis, employment area profiles and promotional activities.

For further information about this study, please visit the Region of York’s Publications page on their Web site.
