What is Crime Stoppers?
CRIME STOPPERS is an international, non-profit, crime solving program
which functions as a community based partnership made up of public, news
media and the police.
Who is CRIME STOPPERS?
In York Region, a group of community minded citizens represents the CRIME
STOPPERS "Board of Directors" which is comprised of people from
all walks of life.
What is the purpose of CRIME STOPPERS?
The goal is to encourage the public to communicate (by telephone) information
regarding CRIMINAL ACTIVITY to the CRIME STOPPERS Program. CRIME STOPPERS
shares this information with the police to assist with investigations.
The "news media" plays an important role in this partnership
by informing the public of unsolved crimes at the request of the CRIME
STOPPERS organization.
How does CRIME STOPPERS WORK?
When you call CRIME STOPPERS with information regarding CRIMINAL ACTIVITY
you will be assigned a special code number. If your information leads
to a charge or an arrest you may be eligible for a cash reward up to ,000.00. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO GIVE YOUR NAME OR TESTIFY IN COURT |
