NOTICE OF TOWN OF WHITCHURCH-STOUFFVILLE PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE AND SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL - OFFICIAL PLAN REVIEW You are invited to attend a Public Open House to discuss possible revisions to the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville's Official Plan as required by Section 26 of The Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended. Public Open House Date: Monday, October 17, 2011 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Public Open House will be held, before the Special Council Meeting. Staff will be available to answer questions on the Official Plan. The Public Open House is an information session only and does not constitute part of the statutory Special Meeting of Council on October 18, 2011. Special Council Meeting Date: Tuesday, October 18, 2011 7:00 p.m. Background The Town's Official Plan provides policies to guide growth management, land use planning, and development approvals implementing the requirements of Provincial and Regional policies and Plans. The last major update to the Town's Official Plan received final approval in 2004. Since 2004, the Town Official Plan has been amended twenty-one times. These amendments include those to facilitate site specific developments and those introducing a wide variety of policy initiatives such as:
Purpose of the Special Meeting of Council The purpose of the October 18, 2011 Special Meeting of Council is to provide an opportunity for public comment on revisions that may be required to the current Official Plan. A discussion paper has been prepared to provide background and to identify issues related to revisions of the Official Plan. This discussion paper is available here or through the Department of Building & Planning Services on September 13, 2011. The Town Official Plan is available on-line at http://www.townofws.com/official_plan.asp.
