Methods of Payment
- Pre-Authorized payment plan – for the application or more information on the monthly plan (10 month), instalment – where the amount of the installment is withdrawn from your account on the due date, or the supplementary plan to assist you in planning for supplementary taxes on newly constructed home plans.
- By internet or telephone through your bank or trust company, Your 8-digit roll # shown on your tax bill payment stub is your tax account number.
- By mail – please enclose the payment stub and make your cheque payable to the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and Cheques may be post-dated to the due date.
- At your financial Institution
- In person at the Town Hall, 111 Sandiford Dr. Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or there is a “Drop Box” available 24 Hours located at the main doors.
- Mortgage Company – If you pay your taxes with your mortgage, their name should be shown on your tax bill along with a mark saying “Do Not Pay.” This means we have sent a copy of your bill to them for payment. This tax bill is for your records only. If the mortgage company’s name does not appear, please contact them immediately.
Penalty/Interest Charges
Penalty/Interest charges will be added to installments not paid by the due date at the rate of 1.25% on the first day of each month. Penalty/interest charges are set by By-Law under authority of The Municipal Act and cannot be waived or reduced by members of staff.
Change of Home Ownership
It is the responsibility of the Town to forward the tax bill to the property owner on record as of the date the tax bills are issued. When you purchase a home, please check with your lawyer or the tax office to confirm when the next payment is due on your property taxes as penalty/interest charges will apply on late payments regardless of any change in ownership.
