What day and how often is the recycling picked up?

ANSWER: Refer to the Garbage and Recycling Collection Schedule in the Waste Management Section of the Town’s website for your area's collection day. Green bins and blue boxes are collected weekly; garbage is collected bi-weekly.

How do I get rid of old carpet, appliances, sofas, etc?

ANSWER: All the information can be found in the Garbage and Recycling Collection Schedule which is distributed to each household. Copies can also be picked up at the Town Offices or in the Waste Management section of the Town’s website.

Residents are required to phone Turtle Island Recycling at 1-866-421-5625 to make arrangements for their appliances and/or large metal items to be picked up.

Where do I dispose of old paint cans, batteries, etc?

ANSWER: There are three permanent Household Hazardous Waste Depots - one in Markham, one in Georgina and one in East Gwillimbury. More information can be found in the above noted Garbage and Recycling Schedule.

Where is the dump in the Municipality?

ANSWER: There is no dump in Whitchurch-Stouffville. For more information regarding the disposal of household garbage, large articles or home improvement material, contact the Regional Municipality of York at 905-764-6345 extensions 5712, 5719 or 5721, or the Public Works Department.

How do I get rid of yard waste?

ANSWER: There is yard waste collection days scheduled bi-weekly on Mondays from April to November each year. Please note that yard waste is only collected in Kraft paper yard waste bags or a reusable open-top container. Branches should be bundled and no longer than four feet long. Where the Composting Facility and what is is the phone number?

ANSWER: Residents may deliver yard waste, free of charge, to:
The Bloomington Composting Facility, 1351 Bloomington Road (just west of Leslie Street) in Richmond Hill, April 1st – November 30th, Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday 7:00 am – 5:00 pm (excluding Statutory Holidays)

ANSWER: Information for the GO Train is 416-869-3200, or www.gotransit.com.

Is there any public transportation in Whitchurch-Stouffville?

ANSWER: York Region Transit (YRT) provides bus service within Whitchurch-Stouffville. A current schedule is on their web-site at www.yorkregiontransit.com, or at 1-866-668-3978.

Who has responsibility for various roads in the Municipality and when will they be swept, cleared, watered down, etc?

ANSWER: Roads in the Municipality can be the responsibility of the Town, York Region or the Province. Questions can be answered by our Public Works Department, at 905-640-1910, ext. 306 or ext. 261.


Who looks after parking infractions?

ANSWER: The Town's By-Law Department is responsible for parking infractions 905-640-1910 or 905-895-5299 ext. 258 or ext 254.  Weekends and evenings ext. 229.

What is the Animal Control number?

ANSWER: The Town of Georgina acts as our Animal Control and the telephone number is     1-800-898-8606.

All strays from Whitchurch-Stouffville will go to the shelter if picked up by an animal patrol officer. If your pet should go missing, please consult our Animal Control at the website listed below. It includes photographs of all dogs and cats that have been picked up in the Whitchurch-Stouffville area and shows the date that the animal was delivered to the pound.
